Air Duct & Dryer Vent Cleaning FAQs

Answers to common questions about pricing, our cleaning process and scheduling with Air Duct Pros, Inc.

Pricing & What’s Included

How much does residential air duct cleaning cost?

Residential Air Duct Cleaning is $369 for a one-system home. It includes:

  • Unlimited Supply Vent Ducts
  • Unlimited Return Vent Ducts
  • Main Return Lines
  • Main Supply Lines
  • All service openings and closings
How much is each additional system?

Each additional system in the same home is $269. A two-system home is $638, and a three-system home is $907, before optional services or applicable discounts.

Do you charge for each vent?

No. Our residential pricing includes unlimited supply and return vent ducts connected to each system being cleaned. The number of vents does not change the price.

Do you offer basic cleaning and deep cleaning at different prices?

No. We offer one level of residential air duct cleaning. Our service includes the supply and return vent ducts, main supply and return lines, and all service openings and closings.

Do you offer repeat-customer pricing?

Yes. Select “I’m a Repeat Customer” on our Instant Pricing page to see repeat-customer pricing. Eligibility is subject to verification.

How do I know how many systems need cleaning?

The number of thermostats or outdoor condenser units can help you estimate how many systems you have. If you’re unsure, text us photos so we can help confirm the number of duct systems to be cleaned.

Does more than one thermostat mean I have more than one system?

Not necessarily. Multiple thermostats can control different zones of one system. Count the units connected to separate duct systems rather than the thermostats.

Do you clean the registers themselves?

Our service focuses on cleaning the ductwork behind the registers. The registers themselves are not included in the cleaning.

Does the service include the blower fan, evaporator coil or furnace cabinet?

No. Our service is residential ductwork cleaning. HVAC unit components, including blower fans, evaporator coils and furnace cabinets, are not included.

What is the optional EnviroCon service?

EnviroCon is an optional treatment applied to the duct system during air duct cleaning. It costs $80 per system and is not offered as a standalone service.

Our Cleaning Process

What equipment and tools do you use?

We use professional gas-powered negative-air equipment along with brush augers and/or compressed-air tools. The tools used depend on the duct material and layout. Watch our technicians at work on the Our Process page.

Will you need to make openings in the ductwork?

Service openings are needed to connect our equipment and clean the main lines. All service openings and closings are included in the air duct cleaning price.

How long does air duct cleaning take?

A typical one-system home takes approximately 1–2 hours after the technicians arrive. Additional systems require additional time. The home’s layout and selected services can affect how long the appointment takes.

Are before-and-after photos guaranteed?

We take the best before-and-after photos we can, but photos are not guaranteed for every system or area.

Do you inspect ductwork or recommend replacement?

We provide duct cleaning, not duct inspections or replacement recommendations. If we notice a concern while cleaning, we’ll point it out.

How do you clean flex duct?

We use brush augers and/or compressed air as appropriate for the ductwork. We take care with flex duct and would not use a tool or method we believe could damage its inner liner.

Can I request a specific cleaning method or equipment setup?

Our technicians choose the appropriate method on site based on the ductwork and conditions. Please review our cleaning process before booking. We cannot promise a customer-specified equipment or containment setup.

Preparing for Your Appointment

What should I do before the technicians arrive?

Parking close to the home is required for our equipment. Please provide clear access to the indoor units and all supply and return vents. Move items directly blocking the work areas before we arrive. Our technicians do not move heavy furniture or fragile items.

Do I need to stay home during the cleaning?

Someone needs to let the technicians in, but you do not need to remain home throughout the service. Let us know your arrangements before the appointment. We can email the invoice, and payment is due at completion.

Can my dog and I stay home during the cleaning?

Yes. You and your dog can remain in the house during the cleaning.

Will air duct cleaning leave a mess inside my house?

The cleaning shouldn’t leave a mess inside. Our vacuum pulls dust and debris from the ductwork into equipment outside, and our technicians clean up the work areas before leaving.

Can the technicians wear shoe covers?

Yes. Our technicians can wear shoe covers at your request.

Dryer Vent Cleaning

How much does dryer vent cleaning cost?

Dryer vent cleaning is $80 more when added to air duct cleaning on the same day. Standalone dryer vent cleaning is $180 where available and has a smaller service area.

Do you need access to the dryer itself?

We need access to both the dryer and the exterior vent. We normally clean from the outside, with the dryer turned on, and can clean from both sides when necessary. We cannot provide interior-only dryer vent cleaning.

Are there dryer vents you cannot service?

We cannot service dryer vents that exhaust through the roof, require a ladder over 15 feet, or exhaust beneath a low deck. If you’re unsure about access, text a photo showing the outside vent and the ground below it to 410-536-1273.

Can you clean a dryer vent with a booster fan?

We cannot clean a dryer vent when a booster fan prevents our brushes from passing through the vent line. Please tell us about a booster fan before scheduling.

Does the dryer need to be working?

Yes. The dryer must be operable for our dryer vent cleaning service.

Do you repair detached or damaged dryer venting?

We provide dryer vent cleaning, not vent-system repairs or modifications. A pre-existing detached or damaged connection that requires repair needs to be handled separately.

Can you clean a dryer vent that runs approximately 15–20 feet?

An approximately 15–20-foot vent run can be cleaned, subject to confirming the exterior exhaust location and safe access. Tell us which floor the dryer is on and where the vent exits. The vent’s length is different from our 15-foot ladder-height restriction.

Special Situations & Service Limitations

Can you clean a system with a fiberglass duct-board plenum?

It depends on the setup. Our vacuum hose needs a secure connection, and fiberglass duct board can sometimes be too fragile to support it safely. Another connection point may be possible, but we can’t guarantee that in advance. We won’t make a connection we believe could damage the ductwork.

Can you clean my air ducts if my heating or cooling system isn’t working?

Yes. We can clean the air ducts even if the heating or cooling system is not operating. This is different from dryer vent cleaning, which requires an operable dryer.

Can you clean ducts in a condo or apartment?

Some condo and apartment systems can be serviced, but we need to confirm equipment access first. Fourth-floor units, rooftop equipment and small crawlspaces may prevent service. Text photos of the indoor unit and surrounding ductwork to 410-536-1273 before booking.

Do you test for or remove mold?

No. We provide duct cleaning, not mold testing or mold remediation. Optional EnviroCon treatment is not a mold-removal service.

Do you offer ozone treatments?

No. We don’t offer ozone treatments. EnviroCon is available as an optional treatment with air duct cleaning for $80 per system.

Will cleaning eliminate an odor coming from outside the ductwork?

We can’t guarantee that. Cleaning may help with odors that have circulated through the ducts, but it does not remove an odor source located elsewhere around the unit or outside the ductwork.

Do you clean bathroom exhaust fans or their venting?

No. We don’t clean or service bathroom exhaust fans or their venting.

Do you sell UV lights?

No. We no longer sell UV lights.

Do you clean commercial properties or install HVAC systems?

We specialize in residential air duct and dryer vent cleaning. We are not set up for commercial-property cleaning or HVAC installation, replacement or renovation work.

Can you remove heavy construction debris or wet debris from ducts?

Our equipment removes ordinary dirt and debris. It cannot remove heavy pieces of concrete, and wet debris may be difficult to remove. Please tell us about these conditions before booking.

Will cleaning fix a completely blocked duct or an airflow problem?

Not always. A blockage or ductwork problem can prevent the negative airflow needed for cleaning. Our cleaning equipment cannot correct every blockage or airflow problem.
